Substitute for red bell peppers in stew?

You can use green bell ppeppers the red are just a little sweeter...No subs I know of for bay leaf You can use any kind of dry peppers or if all else fails a dash of pepper sauce for the heat. Guess you werent prepaired to make this recipe huh??
