How can I get this girl that i like?

There's this girl I really like and I've liked her since 8th grade. (I'm in 9th now) The problem is that we go to different schools now, but she still ims me every day or I im her. I bought her a Coach bag for her birthday (trying to see if money would work...). That was about a week ago, and although she was very happy about the present, I still haven't seen any signs that she likes me enough to go out with me. I was wondering what signs to look for that she likes me and also what to do to get her to like me. Thanks.
